In April of this year the original Texas home of Sterling Ranch was sold to Judith Ames of California. This necessitated the build of a new facility which was created slightly further east on Friendship Road. All year we have been busy building an even better Ranch than the original. The new facility features state of the art breeding and training barns and a 130 x 285 indoor arena. We hope you will be able to stop by and see what we have done during 2008. It has been another great showing year for Sterling Ranch, with Whizzing Off Sparks winning the Intermediate Open Derby and placing in the Top 10 of the Open Derby and then going on to third place in the AQHA World Championship Show in Junior Reining.

Over the pond in England, Jessica Sternberg took over the reins of Chic In The Bar and Sashimi, going on to be named Youth Reiner of the Year and winning two silver medals at her first European Championships.

At the All American Quarter Horse Congress, Shawn Flarida teamed up again with Smart Spook to win the Open Reining with a 228! Spook then topped out his year by winning both the Restricted and Open FEI World Reining Masters with Rudi Kronsteiner for Austria. Rudi and Spook had tied with Casey Hinton on Mr Boomerjac and Gabe Hutchins on Juiced Up Doc in the Masters by scoring a 221. This meant a run off, which Spook then handily won with a 227! These two competitions put Spooks NRHA earnings right at $300,000. Tinsel Nic also attended the Masters as a last minute ride for Canadian Dany Temblay, adding $4500 to his earnings.

Also at the Futurity Show, Sterling Ranch raised Stepping Off Sparks, by Wimpys Little Step and out of Setting Off Sparks topped the Two Year Old Prospect Sale, selling for $200,000. Congratulations to Vittorio Rabboni and Garth Brown for presenting such a fine colt to the public wearing our brand!
